A thrilling end round between Alpo (Finland) and Andries (Netherlands)
in Hengelo Friday afternoon June 6th 2003. Warm weather and an exhiting
race. In the beginning there were 3 leading men, then Ville Vickholm
had to let the first two men go. Andries and Alpo kept high speed
in
last rounds untill
finish and the suprisingly the Dutchmen won the sprint! and the
pricemoney. Andries already second in 2002 behind Hannu took revance.
Ville Vickholm from Finland finished third.
It must have been party time in house Koers because in the women's
class Hermien Koers (sister of Andries) won the race. In a sprint
Ilse van der Veen came in second and third was Ilse Bijl from Nijkerk.
Great
event, great race!, despite there were only 20 participants compeeting.
Day 2 - On Saturday June 7 2003 a race was organized on campus of
University Twente by StepTeamTwente. A 'drop out' race. The
race started at 14.00 hours and temperature was 28 C.
The event had
a mass start and after 22 rounds first participants sprinted to
avoid to be the 'dropped out' of the race. After round 26 tempo
increased and it became more and more a battle. In the last round
Andries Koers and Alpo Kuusisto sprinted to finish line. Alpo from
Finland won the race! Really exhiting race for people te see at
finish line. Something to organize again in future.
And after the finish we had a drink on the terrace if University
sports bar.
See you all next year!
